    In my opinion:

Step 1: Actually have a bugout property (working on it)

2: I’d say make sure to get to know your neighbors at that location

3: location should be less than 2 hours from your primary residence which makes it an easy weekend getaway…see item 2

4: if SHTF, 2 hours or less in a car could easily be done on foot in a couple days if need be. 1000 miles might as well be on another planet

I’d be interested in some gear to help you stay dry, especially considering it’s supposed to be very wet. Also fire starting equipment and various food sources (packaged meals).

Good luck and keep us posted!

Great point, find what suits you and stick with it. Just do something, burn calories and push yourself. Even I hate to admit it but when you get older you just can’t do what you used to. However…there are workarounds.

I have friends that have horses, and I think my car is still cheaper than one of those. 🙂

Great advice J. Not only do I have smoke alarms, I have CO2 sensors on every level of the house, battery life of 10 years I think. Bought them at Costco for around $25 each.

I have to credit The Maj for this thought process, but why have two separate bags? A GHB and BOB? Why not just have ONE bag that you keep with you at all times? Call it a BOB or whatever, but no need to duplicate efforts if you put the work into one bag that you have in your vehicle or home (near you) all the time. Just a thought.
