Galco Stow N Go Holster Update

Back on 17 April I published an initial review of the Galco Stow N Go Holster.  If you don’t want to go back and read through my initial thoughts concerning the holster I’ll summarize for you here.

– I bought the holster as a cheap alternative to the Crossbreed IWB Holster I usually wore.

– I wanted something that might fare better in hotter temps, as the Galco has a smaller “footprint” than the Crossbreed.

– I liked the fact that it had a very secure belt clip, was very lightweight and was super affordable.

– I didn’t like that the holster seemed flimsy, re-holstering was somewhat of a pain and there seemed to be some friction while attempting to draw a weapon from the holster.

It’s now been just over two months and I have to say that the Galco has become my EDC holster, it’s just that good.  There are some aspects of the Crossbreed that are far superior to the Galco but for my personal preference the Galco is hands down a better option.  Let me tell you why…

Galco Stow N Go Review 1

– I have been spending quite a bit of time outside in the heat, and the large “footprint” of the leather backing on the Crossbreed just screams uncomfortable.  In cooler temps you hardly notice it but when things heat up it just traps sweat against your skin.

– The Galco is just so much easier to insert and remove from inside of my waistband, and the clip secures to my belt very well.

– The holster has broken in very well, it has formed quite nicely to my Glock and has somewhat “stiffened up” which makes the draw nice and smooth.  As a matter of fact I can carry a compact or sub-compact Glock in the holster with no issues whatsoever.

Galco Stow N Go Review 2

Don’t get me wrong, the Crossbreed is an outstanding holster which I might revert back to in the fall and winter. I really like the kydex holster and how nice and secure it feels while wearing it.  However for what I am doing and the inordinate amount of time I spend out in the sun (wearing shorts) the Galco has been my go to holster. A great bargain at under $30, if you don’t have one I suggest giving it a go as you won’t be disappointed.

Does the holster allow for a full firing grip on your pistol?
    Thanks, Kendell
