We know there are those within our government who want to strip us of our right to bear arms. It has been rumored that since the re-election Senator Feinstein has started working on her new glorious Assault Weapons Ban (version 2).
Apparently Senator Feinstein’s current plan would not only further restrict the permissible features (by removing the ability to have a pistol grip at all) but effectively requires all owners of AR-15s and AK pattern rifles to modify their guns immediately or be criminals. Doesn’t matter that the gun was legal when you bought it, if you haven’t modified your rifle to comply with the new AWB you would be a criminal.
Buckeye Firearms has a great website with lots of information dedicated to firearms education, training and rights. One of the best documents on their site is a Gun Facts Sheet which debunks (with extensive research) many of the typical arguments used by gun control freaks around the nation. Additionally they link to a video published by the NRA which shows just how easily the dominoes can fall once you allow lawmakers to start down the path of restricting our rights. It starts with simple registrations and then before you know it outright bans on all guns are enacted, something that is heavily endorsed by many gun control advocates. The video showcases what happened in Great Britain and Austrailia, how a silent population stood by and watched their rights stripped away.
Silence which has led to submission and even worse, division in the ranks. Now, gun owners in Austrailia and Great Britain will admit they only have themselves to blame. “Our biggest enemy has been ourselves, and apathy.”
Thankfully here in the USA we still have the 2nd Amendment and organizations like the NRA (of which I am a member). Still we cannot afford to become complacent, to be lulled into a false sense of security lest we go the way of Australia and Great Britain.
