Prepper WAKE UP CALL!

Two weeks ago a massive solar flare, one capable of causing widespread disaster and sending many of us back to the stone age, barely missed our planet.  How many of you knew about this event before today?

The earth barely missed taking a massive solar punch in the teeth two weeks ago, an “electromagnetic pulse” so big that it could have knocked out power, cars and iPhones throughout the United States.

Two EMP experts told Secrets that the EMP flashed through earth’s typical orbit around the sun about two weeks before the planet got there.

“The world escaped an EMP catastrophe,” said Henry Cooper, who led strategic arms negotiations with the Soviet Union under President Reagan, and who now heads High Frontier, a group pushing for missile defense.

“There had been a near miss about two weeks ago, a Carrington-class coronal mass ejection crossed the orbit of the Earth and basically just missed us,” said Peter Vincent Pry, who served on the Congressional EMP Threat Commission from 2001-2008.

I have written extensively about the Solar Flare / EMP threat because I believe that is it one of the largest and most probable threats to life as we know it.  Our country could most likely survive another stock market crash, hyperinflation scenario or even another world war.  There would even be some lead time before those events happened which would enable those of us with our “ear to the ground” to dig our heels in and prepare for the worst.  Yet if the lights go out in an instant and we are thrust back into the stone age, this country will tear itself to pieces in a matter of weeks.  The drive for food, water, and shelter will be on an epic scale.  Combine that with an instant leveling of the societal playing field and the raw evil that often exerts itself when disasters happen…it will be like lighting a match in a room full of natural gas.

I would love to say that my family and I are prepared for an event like an EMP disaster, but I would be lying if I said we were.  Can anyone truly be totally prepared for that?  The vast majority of us would find out that our new lives post SHTF were vastly different than the old ones that had us lounging on the couch stuffing chips into our face while flipping through the channels.

  • No climate control (heating or air conditioning).
  • No communication with almost anyone outside of a mile radius unless willing to travel (dangerous).
  • No public services (hospitals, police, fire, national guard).
  • No more going to the store to buy supplies.
  • No more flush toilets.
  • No more trash man every Sunday.
  • No  more medications other than what is on hand.
  • No trust in anyone other than your immediate family.
  • Worst of all, no more Prepper-Resources.com!

Here’s the thing, when it all goes down you have what you have, and any survival skills that you have been working on immediately become valid.  This latest near miss of a solar flare should be a wake up call if you have been procrastinating.  I’m not telling you to go out and max your credit cards buying up freeze dried food, but our level of awareness should never be allowed to drop.  We should never believe that once we have enough stuff or skills that our journey is complete, a state of prepper complacency is what I’ll call it.  Your basement is filled with goodies and you watched a few YouTube vids on how to split wood and skin game, you’ll be fine if T-SHTF.  But have you ever really used that shiny axe sitting in the corner of your garage?  Have you ever attempted to hunt or trap an animal, much less prepare it for dinner?

I tell people all the time that fitness is not something I do when I feel like it but rather it’s a lifestyle.  The same thing goes for prepping, it should be something that is incorporated into our daily lives.  Everything should be done in moderation of course, I hope that goes without saying.

Ladies and gentlemen this is not a game.  The threats are very real and at any moment TEOTWAWKI could be upon us.  Do any of us want that to happen?  I hope not, as I love the modern conveniences that life has to offer.  Yet we should realize that at any moment those trinkets could be gone in a flash and life as we know it could be forever changed.  Plan accordingly.

SpaceWeather.com clearly states that there WAS NOT even any major solar activity on the date mentioned! While I agree that an EMP is absolutely something to be concerned about and prepare for, why do so many sites panic, first, and never bother to check out facts?!?! Does not help prepper credibility for sure.

So who to believe? One website says it happened, another says it did not. The original story cites the opinions of individuals with a laundry list of credentials, I’m sure spaceweather.com has their own think tank. It’s the same with the economy. One camp will say QE to infinity and all of the other issues we are facing will sink the ship, another camp will say all is fine and the sky is not falling.

Ask yourself this, what are the facts in this case? That’s really all up to who you choose to believe I suppose…unless you personally have the equipment to verify whether or not this event *actually* took place. There will always be two sides to every story. 🙂

Just because another website states no activity.. doesn’t mean there wasn’t. I personally Know some geologist that know that the USGS modifies what they tell the people on the website..

Why would they state.. Oh by the way.. Earth is going to be destroyed.. yeah.. CHAOS!!

Just like EVERYTHING on the INTERNET.. Read and judge for yourself based on the FACTS that you have been giving and the research you HAVE done.

      Peace out..

        Totally agree Wani.

  1. I’ve seen two separate reports that make mention of the Carrington-sized CME that just missed the earth a couple of weeks ago. In fact, I mentioned it in my four-part series on EMPs on my blog, Pesky Truth. After reading this post and seeing some other sources that are disputing whether the event actually happened, I decided to revisit my primary source for news of the near-miss. It was a Washington Examiner article by Paul Bedard on July 31, 2013.

    Here’s a link: http://washingtonexaminer.com/massive-solar-flare-narrowly-misses-earth-emp-disaster-barely-avoided/article/2533727

I watched the entire hour and fourteen minute presentation by three knowledgeable men who were in a position to know, and they did reference the near-miss of a Carrington class solar storm. By the way, the presentation was excellent in pointing out the threat posed by an EMP, how woefully prepared we are, and how little credence our government “leaders” give EMP events (solar or nuclear) in general.

I also checked another source for space weather, the Space Weather Prediction Center (part of the National Weather Service) and while they show the dates and severity levels for geomagnetic storms, they don’t reference that particular event. That makes me think that since earth wasn’t going to be affected, they didn’t include the event in their storm tracking. I don’t believe that anyone has said that no such CME occurred; only that nothing occurred that impacted earth
    .
Here’s a link for the space weather site: http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/WhatsNew.html

You’re probably already aware of all of this, but I just wanted to add my .02 cents worth as having seen evidence of the storm you mention and also to publish a link that readers can verify for themselves that the powerful storm did happen – and crossed earth’s orbit – thank God we weren’t there at the time.

Great follow up information, thanks for sharing. I guess it’s one of those things that we will have to speculate about after reviewing the evidence. Personally, and I’ve stated this before, I believe there is zero chance any government entity would come out and state that our world was almost tossed into darkness by a near miss. The masses would be in state of panic, demanding that “someone do something” so that if we were hit our way of life would continue as normal. After all if our iPhones stopped working and our social media status failed to update every 5 mins: TEOTWAWKI.
