Prep Updates 01/16/13

I stopped by the bookstore today to pick up two more books I haven’t read in quite some time.  In yesterday’s update I posted about how I was reading Game of Thrones, and while I have been enjoying it I thought it time to pick up something more relevant to follow the book up with given our current situation.  As such I wasted no time in purchasing 1984 and Animal Farm.  If you haven’t read these two Orwell novels in a while I suggest picking them up and doing so.  Remember: Big Brother is always watching (for your safety of course).

I would also be remiss without mentioning the NY gun control laws and those which the administration will propose later today.  Quite frankly I’m not sure what to make of it.  What will those in NY do but submit?  These are interesting times and I fear for our rights as citizens.  United we stand, divided we fall.

Prepper Deals out on the Internet:

If you are looking for 9mm Luger I found some on Ammoman for $199 shipped (500 rounds).  Not the best price ever but it’s in stock.

Emergency Essentials finally got a website makeover, and they are running a sale.  Check out this 397 piece first aid kit for $28.99.  Good to stick in the trunk of your vehicle.

Current events and opinion:

Texas Proposal: JAIL Any Federal Officials Trying to Enforce New Gun Restrictions in the State
PJ:  Don’t mess with Texas!  I like it.

New York Has Gun Deal, With Focus on Mental Ills
PJ:  By now you have surely heard about this and know the details associated with it.  I did predict new gun control laws would be passed in 2013 and I see NY state as a test bed for nationwide laws.  What can be done about this?  Protests?  Calls for the SCOTUS to repeal it?

Facebook loses 1.4 million active users in U.S.
PJ:  10 years from now, assuming T-SHTF hasn’t happened yet, people will be saying: “You remember when everyone was on FB?  Wow can’t believe we used to do that.”  Believe it….

Obama to offer a package of sweeping restrictions on firearms
PJ:  I guess we will find out later today what will be proposed.  One thing is certain, even if you could sell your PMAGS for $100 each I would advise against doing it.  Even if you could get 10 times what you paid for that box of ammo, don’t sell it.  KEEP what you have.

OMB: Plan for hundreds of thousands of furloughs if budget deal fails
PJ:  Think about all of the people who do NOT work for the government which this will impact.  Think about all of the federal agencies which you interact with on a daily or weekly basis.  The second and third order effects of this happening would be felt nationwide.

Tiger cub and dog video
PJ:  Lots of bad mojo out there today, thought to toss in a feel good video to brighten up your day (even if it is posted on CNN).
