Doomsday Preppers on National Geographic

A new season of Doomsday Preppers airs on the National Geographic Channel today. From the Nat Geo website:

Doomsday Preppers explores the lives of otherwise ordinary Americans who are preparing for the end of the world as we know it. Unique in their beliefs, motivations, and strategies, preppers will go to whatever lengths they can to make sure they are prepared for any of life’s uncertainties. And with our expert’s assessment, they will find out their chances of survival if their worst fears become a reality.

While I tend to wonder what would motivate an individual to conduct a what amounts to a worldwide show and tell of all their prep supplies (to include guns, secret rooms, bugout locations) the program is still fun to watch. I like to keep an open mind when watching shows like this, you never know when you might pick up on something which you can use for your own prep strategy. For example, these welding tips are pretty cool.

Of course not everything on the show should be copied…

Either way it’s an hour or so of your life you probably can afford to spend watching TV.  You never know, you might pick up some useful information or at the very least learn from other people’s mistakes.
